Dear Parents/Carers
The end of the academic year is fast approaching but there are no signs of any let up in the pace of school life or the experiences our young people undertake on a daily basis.
Despite only just last week celebrating the end of their exams our year 11 students have returned to school this week for their 6th form induction and masterclasses. It was wonderful to see so many of our future 6th form students with us and enjoying what the 6th form has to offer them over the next two years.
Our year 10 students also completed their internal assessments as did our year 12 students, well done to all of them for their hard work and dedication in completing these. Furthermore, our year 12 students attended the UCAS exhibition to try and help them think about their steps.
This week we once again hosted one of our drop down super learning days. It really was a truly wonderful day with students experiencing an incredible variety of sessions and activities planned and delivered by our staff and external agencies. Year 7 had a focus on STEM, year 8 careers, year 10 PSHE and year 9 undertook their retreat, culminating with a mass at The Abbey. Well done to all staff and students for a truly exceptional day.
This weekend we also have students taking part in their silver Duke of Edinburgh, we wish them the best of luck in this.
I would like to take the opportunity once again to remind you of the importance of attendance to school and being punctual. Please remember, students need to be on the playground by 8.45, but it is advisable for them to be there for 8.40 to avoid picking up a late sanction, as the gates close at 8.45 sharp. It is also important to note that if they arrive after 9.30 they will have a U code on their record which comes off their attendance even though they are in school. Please support your children in helping them to arrive to school on time and thank you to all those students who do so on a regular basis.
One final reminder that we now have only three weeks until the end of the academic year. Please don’t forget that next week we have a MAC wide INSET day on Thursday 4th July and our sports days/review days are on Thursday 11th July and Friday 12th July.
Have a wonderful and restful weekend.
Mr Harrison
Vice Principal
