Dear Parents/Carers
Well done to all of our year 9 pupils who sat their exams this week. They conducted themselves very well and I hope the experience of sitting proper examinations in an exam hall has been a useful one for you. Teachers will be marking the papers over the coming weeks and parents will receive that data in mid-December. A reminder to year 11 pupils that their mock examinations will be taking place the week after next.
Thank you to all of the sixth form parents who attended last night’s virtual parents’ evening. I understand there were some glitches but overall it was a very successful evening.
This week we have joined the National Breakfast programme and will be handing out free bagels to pupils before school. There is also free cereal alongside our normal breakfast service in operation in the bistro from 8.15am.
We have been asked by the police just to bring to your attention vaping as it is becoming an issue with some young people at the moment and there is a genuine concern that the children do not know what substances they are consuming. Some shops or sellers are selling vapes that contain synthetic drug compounds to underage children and it is important to note that this is a criminal offence by the seller and the buyer. Vaping on school site is not prohibited by anyone and any pupil found to be vaping will likely be excluded. Fortunately, we have not had any incidences of this in school but I feel it important to raise this matter with you as parents.
A reminder that as the winter draws in and temperatures drop that pupils should wear black V neck jumpers to school under their blazer as opposed to any hoodies or other jumpers. These will be confiscated as they are not school uniform. Thank you to all those parents who actively support in ensuring your children come to school in full uniform and fully equipped for the day. It makes a huge difference and sets the highest standards for your children.
I will leave you with this short prayer
Grant us a vision, Lord
To see what we can achieve. To reach out beyond ourselves. To share our lives with others. To stretch our capabilities. To increase our sense of purpose. To be aware of where we can help. To be sensitive to your presence. To give heed to your constant call. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
Kind Regards
Mr A. Grant
