Dear Parents/Carers
The last week of the half term was a very special week with our absolutely wonderful production of Matilda taking place. I always knew it would be a special show given it was our first since prior to Covid but I was blown away by the talent and professionalism on display. Thank you to those of you who managed to come and see the show (some of you were there all three nights!) and I sincerely hope you all had a very enjoyable time.
This week we have received our Catholic Schools Inspectorate (CSI) report. As a faith-based school we are subject to two inspection cycles: Ofsted and CSI, both as rigorous as each other! We were visited by three inspectors in January from the Diocese who were with us for two days. They spent time visiting RE lessons, talking to staff and pupils and looking over our documentation. I am pleased to say that we have been graded Good in all areas with the provision of Catholic Life and Mission deemed to be Outstanding. We are extremely pleased with the report and it is testament to all the hard work that goes on by the staff here and also testament to your children who very much make St Edmund Campion the popular school it is. Please do take the time to read through the report as it is as much a report for yourselves as it is for us. You can find it on our website and a direct link is here: https://stendmundcampion.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/document/CatholicSchools-Inspectorate-Report-January-2023.pdf?t=1677840736?ts=1677840736
We are very much in the season of Lent now and you will see that there is a lot going on as we aim to raise money for various different charities. Mr Sorroll is very busy at the moment organising all the different events and I highly recommend following our chaplaincy handle on twitter @stedcampchapel. I know today we are setting up a soup kitchen where pupils can buy soup and a roll for £1.
I am very much looking forward to seeing all the parents of year 9 next week at our options/parents evening. There will be a short presentation during this evening to explain the options process more thoroughly and I would urge you all to attend. I will leave you with this prayer for Lent:
Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race
Jesus Christ our Saviour as a model of humility.
He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man And giving His life on the Cross.
Help us to bear witness to You. By following His example of suffering
And make us worthy to share in His Resurrection.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son.
Amen.
Kind Regards
Mr A. Grant
