Message from the Principal

23 June 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

We had a fantastic super learning day experience yesterday and it was a privilege to see all the children engaging with the activities and learning so much outside the usual curriculum. Year 9s had a powerful retreat experiencing what it is like to be a refugee culminating in a prayer service at the end of the day. It was lovely to see the year 7s enjoying the carting experience as part of their STEM day. The Loudmouth production ‘Calling it Out’ about relationships was a powerful message of respecting each other for all of our year 10s. Thank you to our visiting speakers for year 8 who spoke eloquently of their own career pathways.

You will no doubt be aware that the National Education Union have called a further two days of strike action on 5th and 7th July and I will let you know the plans for these two days next week. These days have had an impact on some arrangements and as such our year 6 to 7 transition day is now taking place on Wednesday 12th July, with the evening for parents taking place on 19th July. The 6th July is a MAC-wide INSET day so school is closed to all pupils on this day.

Thank you to the year 7 parents who came to the Whitemore Lakes evening on Tuesday in preparation for your children’s outdoor education experience later this term and a big thank you to Mr Finnigan for delivering this.

Well done to the year 10s who have been sitting their internal examinations this week. Conduct has been excellent and I hope they have been a good experience for them. We are looking forward to parents’ evening next Wednesday and hope that all year 10 parents are able to come to the event.

Over the coming weeks we will be sending out information for the new academic year so please do check your ParentMail.

It is Eid next week and we wish all members of our Muslim community a very happy Eid.

God of all people, open our hearts to understanding other faith traditions. We are all made in your image and seek to know and follow your ways, to praise you, and to be instruments of your Holy presence. May we respect those who are different from us, who follow a different faith tradition than us. May we seek to know the truth of your Word and find common ground among the many faith traditions and recognize that we share a common humanity. Help us to be people of compassion and understanding, creating a path to a peaceful coexistence among all people. Amen.

Kind regards

Mr A Grant
