Message from the Principal

02 February 2024

Dear Families

We are having a very busy couple of weeks to end this half term! Tuesday’s super learning day was
a wonderful occasion, full of different learning opportunities for our students ranging from first aid
training to workshops around keeping safe to effective study skills. Thank you to all of our visitors
and thank you to all the staff involved in organising this day.

Our school production of Sister Act takes place next week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
They are always such spectacular occasions and I would very much encourage you to get yourself
a ticket. You can purchase your tickets from here: https://
www.ticketsource.co.uk/st-edmund-campion-catholic-school

Thank you to Mrs Hives and the team for putting the show together and we wish the entire cast the
very best.

Well done to our year 8 girls football team who came out victorious against King Edwards Sheldon
Heath on Wednesday with a 1-0 scoreline!

You will have seen the letter I sent out this week regarding punctuality to school (there is also a
copy at the end of this letter) Please do ensure that your child is aware of the changes and that they
understand the importance of being on time to school. It is our second standard ‘Be On Time’.

I am becoming concerned with levels of attendance in school. Whilst we appreciate there have
been a number of illnesses around, the levels of attendance by some pupils has dropped
significantly. It is absolutely crucial that your child attends school and they should only be off if they
have a high temperature or sickness and diarrhoea. I would recommend that you read this from the
Department of Education: https://
educationhub.blog.gov.uk/2024/01/03/improving-school-attendance/

I will leave you with this prayer for peace in our world from our Academy patron St John Paul II

Lord Jesus Christ, who are called the Prince of Peace, who are Yourself our peace and
reconciliation, who so often said, “Peace to you” – please grant us peace.

Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice and brotherly love. Banish from their hearts
whatever might endanger peace. Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the
great gift of peace.

May all peoples on the earth become as brothers and sisters.

May longed-for peace blossom forth and reign always over us all. Amen.

Kind Regards
Mr Grant
