Dear Parents/Carers
Thank you to all the year 11 parents who came to parents’ evening on Wednesday. It was a very
important occasion as it was the last opportunity for parents to speak with each teacher before the exam season starts soon after Easter. I know lots of revision materials were handed out for students to work through during the Easter break. There are also booster classes happening over the Easter break and thank you to all the staff involved in these and to Mr Griffiths for putting the schedule together.
Super learning day last Friday was a special day with lots of different activities happening. The planetarium in the gym for year 8 was fantastic and year 11 had a great time at the careers fair at Edgbaston cricket ground and I hope this was useful in thinking about their future careers.
Last Thursday we held a practice lockdown drill. This was originally scheduled for a few weeks back but the snow meant we had to postpone. The drill was a very important exercise for us to undertake and I must thank all the pupils for taking it very seriously and conducting themselves in a very mature and sensible manner throughout.
On Monday it was the funeral of former St Edmund Campion Headteacher Mr Louis Loughran who sadly passed away in February. Our thoughts were very much with his family and friends and thank you to Mr Oxley who attended on school’s behalf.
Next week our school hall will be out of action as the floor is being replaced ready for our new seating system which will be installed over the May half term. We use the hall as our dining facility and it is where pupils can sit and eat their lunch. We will be providing seating elsewhere around school but please bear in mind that hot lunches will still be provided but they will be more of a grab ‘n’ go style.
Just a reminder that school is open as normal next week as all St John Paul II Multi Academy schools are breaking up on Thursday 6th April. This will be a normal school day and there is a multiacademy online Easter liturgy in the morning. We will publish our last newsletter of the spring term on Thursday.
I will leave you with this prayer:
Dear Lord, as we rise to meet each new day, please let us be filled with Your spirit. Wherever we
go, let us spread love, joy, peace, goodness, and faithfulness. Let us desire to become more like
you and to worship you in all we do. Help us desire these things so much more than the sin that
entices us. Thank you for always going before us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
Kind Regards
Mr A. Grant
