Message from the Principal

28 April 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

A very warm welcome back to everyone for our summer term (although you wouldn’t quite think it was the summer with the weather at the moment!) I hope you all had an enjoyable and restful Easter break. This week our assemblies have been focussing on getting back to basics based around our six standards in school:

1. Be present

2. Be on time

3. Appear smart and professional

4. Behave extremely well

5. Work extremely hard

6. Always be kind and respectful

Attendance is a big focus this term and I cannot over emphasise the importance of ensuring your children are in school each day. Remember pupils should only be off ill if they have sickness, diarrhoea or a high temperature. Pupils whose attendance is below 90% are classed as persistently absent and schools are required to put in measures to address this. 90% equates to one day off per fortnight!!!

Equipment is also a big focus. Pupils need a clear well stocked pencil case and a scientific calculator. You can buy both of these from school for £5 each. As of next week, pupils without the full equipment will be placed in detention so it is crucial that over this bank holiday weekend this is addressed if needed. You can find out what is needed in the pencil cases here on the website: https://www.stedcamp.bham.sch.uk/851/equipment

Tuesday is the next day of NEU industrial action. On this day years 11 and 13 will be in school as normal. Year 7 will also be in school at normal start time but will finish at 1.30pm (lunch will be on for them). There will also be some year 10s in school completing some BTEC assessments.

I hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend and I will leave you with this short prayer:

Lord God, may we be grateful for our lot,

and compassionate toward all those who are

suffering every kind of distress at this time. May we hold back nothing, and

hasten to be the ministers of prayer and mercy,

like the disciples of Him who went about doing

good in times of need.

Amen

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
