Message from the Principal

05 May 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

Thank you for your support this week with our attendance and equipment drives. As I mentioned last week it is crucial that all students come to school well prepared for their learning and we will continue to expect all students to come to school with their fully stocked pencil cases and their full correct uniform.

Whilst we have seen improvements in attendance there is still room for improvement from some individuals. Remember unless your child has sickness/diarrhoea or a high temperature they should be in school.

This week we have been holding some of our key stage 3 progress tests in our sports hall under examination conditions. Year 7 came in on Tuesday and were excellent throughout the day especially considering they did three exams overall! Year 8 and 9 are sitting some of theirs today with years 7, 8 and 9 sitting exams on Tuesday. There conduct thus far has also been exemplary. Remember there are sample progress tests on our website to help pupils prepare: https://www.stedcamp.bham.sch.uk/1581/progress-practice-papers

There have also been GCSE and A level Art and Textiles exams this week as well as Spanish oral assessments. Well done to all the year 11 and 13 students involved in this and all the staff involved have been highly impressed with their conduct and the effort they have put in. Thank you to Mrs Rouse, Mrs Logan, Mrs Chesters, Mrs Egan and Mrs Williams for the organisation of these assessments and for the support they put in for the children.

This weekend sees the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. I hope you all enjoy the day tomorrow as well as the extra bank holiday on Monday and I will leave you with this Coronation prayer.

Heavenly King, Almighty God;

We thank you for the call that you place on the life of each disciple.

As we discern all that you desire of us, we pray for King Charles III and ask that the Coronation be a time for the nations to unite in recognising that he is called into your service and ordained to the task of leading and serving us all.

We pray too for Queen Camilla and all members of the Royal Family, asking that each fulfil their roles such that all people might flourish.

We ask this in the Name of our Servant King, Jesus.

Amen.

Kind Regards

Mr A. Grant
