Dear Parents/Carers
Last Sunday on the Feast of Christ the King and National Youth Sunday our wonderful year 7 students led the Liturgy of the Word and Bidding Prayers at the 10.30am mass. I was humbled and delighted to have been able to listen to and support both our students and our work with the Abbey parish. They read eloquently and were superb ambassadors for our school community.
Friday was the feast of St Edmund Campion and our school community celebrated a beautiful mass led by our school chaplain Fr Prabakar. In giving praise and thanks to God for the many blessings he bestows upon our school, we implored again the intercession of our patron St Edmund Campion, as we continue to ‘Achieve Together Through Christ.’
Praise and recognition are deserved for our year 11 pupils who have worked extremely hard for their mock exams over the last few weeks; they have approached them with maturity and have shown resilience and commitment - I understand how challenging this time can be, but our year 11s have risen to the challenge and will have gained further teacher feedback to help them continue to develop. Many of our pupils have spoken extremely positively about the benefits of our Walking Talking Mocks (WTMs) programme; WTMs are an effective way to strengthen pupils’ exam technique and to help them forensically explore past exam questions/techniques in preparation for the final exams. I hope that these mock experiences have filled them with confidence, as to what they can achieve with hard work and commitment.
At Key Stage 3, our year 7 and 8 pupils are taking and preparing for their important Progress Tests. Pupils are encouraged to use their knowledge organisers and booklets to help them fully prepare. Our school website has lots of helpful resources to support pupils revise effectively. The link is:

In our year 9 careers assembly on Thursday, we welcomed Chris Childley a ‘Choose Hospitality Pledge Ambassador’ who spoke passionately about the available opportunities in the hospitality sector. Chris also joined our year 9 food lessons for the morning and shared lots of fantastic prizes with the pupils. It was another important opportunity to highlight the array of careers on offer to them and provided an important encounter with an employer.
I look forward to updating you, in a few weeks’, on other exciting curriculum developments in school.
Best wishes
Mrs. J Quoroll
