Dear Parents/Carers
Following on from the first Sunday of Advent last weekend, we are very much focussed on looking forward to the birth of our Lord Jesus. Over the coming weeks we will be lighting the next candle on our Advent wreath every Monday during the morning line up and take a moment to reflect on this incredible upcoming event.
Furthermore, it has also been lovely to see Mr Sorroll and the Chaplaincy Team leading our year group assemblies this week on Advent and what is truly means to us.
It really does feel like we are starting our journey to Christmas and if you look carefully around the school you will start to see trees and decorations starting to take shape!
This week we continued our commitment to education outside the classroom and also giving back to our local community. A group of year 10 students were lucky enough to go to see A Christmas Carol at the Crescent Theatre, whilst a number of our year 7,8 and 9 students attended Asprey Court Care Home to sing carols for the elderly. Both of these were huge successes.
In other news, our year 11 students returned to their period 6 lessons this week, after a break for their mock exams. Once again demonstrating their and their teachers’ desire to obtain the best possible outcomes for our students. Furthermore, we have also hosted the next round of ‘Impress the Examiner’ sessions in school with the staff who delivered the sessions speaking highly of our wonderful students.
With only two school weeks until we break for the Christmas holidays, please remember just how important student attendance is and the impact taking even just a day off can have. To that end, we started our ‘12 Days of Christmas’ attendance drive this week with students being entered into prize draws for their attendance during this time!
Finally, I will leave you with a couple of reminders and as always, thank you for your ongoing support in all we do in the best interests of your children.
•Even though the days will start getting lighter again soon, please remind students of the need to take care on the way to and from school in the dark, especially when crossing the road.
• With the colder weather please ensure students are wearing appropriate outer clothing which is in line with our uniform policy (this can be found on the school website).
Many thanks
Mr Harrison
