Message from the Principal

22 December 2023

Dear Parents/Carers

As we come to the end of another term, I would like to extend my thanks to you all as part of our Campion community, whether you are staff, student, parent or governor. It has been a long term but a joyous one with much to celebrate. As always, your children do us proud and it is very much a pleasure and honour to be the Principal of this fantastic school. We are very fortunate here at Campion to have such a wonderful student body with equally wonderful parents.

This morning we held an Advent celebration organised by Mr Sorroll and led by Father Ciaran. The service encouraged us all to remember the true meaning and gift of Christmas and to remember what true happiness means. Thank you also to the chaplaincy team and Mr Sorroll for their many contributions to our Catholic Life in school.

We have also spent much of this week sending out some Christmas hampers to families in our community. It has been a wonderful effort by staff who put these hampers together and thank you also to Mr Roche and Mr Evans who distributed them.

We say goodbye to a few members of staff today: Miss Robinson in the office was a student here and has worked here for many years, firstly in the Science department as a technician and then in our main office. She has been a wonderful member of staff and will be greatly missed. She has also been responsible for putting this newsletter together each week! Mr Boylan who has been here for 20 years and has been a valuable member of staff supporting some of our students with the highest needs. Mr and Mrs Morris are both moving to pastures new. They both joined us 10 years ago at the same time and have also made invaluable contributions to our school. Mrs Stanziola is leaving us to return to her home country and I know she will be very much missed. We also say goodbye to Mrs Collis in Geography who takes up a head of Geography post and I am sure will excel at this and to Miss Daplyn in 6th form and Mrs Evans in student support both of whom will be missed. I wish them all every success in their new roles.

We return to school as normal on Tuesday 9th January for all students. We have sent out a notification on ParentMail with a few reminders for our return so please do take the time to read this.

I hope you all have a wonderful and Holy Christmas time with your families and please do keep safe over the break.

“Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.” – Matthew 1:23

Kind Regards
