Message from the Vice Principal

19 April 2024

Dear Parents/Carers,

Welcome back to the summer term, the final term of the academic year, although the weather doesn’t seem to have noticed! We hope you had a lovely Easter break and that the students are back with us, refreshed for what will be a busy yet exciting term.

Speaking of busy, the final week of term was just that, with our students once again experiencing one of our super learning days, engaging in a wide range of diverse topics and opportunities to learn things that we would not normally cover on a daily basis. It truly was a wonderful day. We also had a wonderful liturgy as a community, beautifully coordinated by our lay chaplain and his team.

During the holidays, the school did not stop, as usual. Staff once again gave their time to support and prepare our Y11/Y13 students for their upcoming examinations. There was a real buzz around the school, which was brilliant to see! Furthermore, our football trip to Holland was a success, with the team returning victorious from the Easter Open. Well done to the whole team, ranging from Y8 to Y11, and to Mr. Hall and his staff!

This week, we will once again be capturing the thoughts and viewpoints of our students with our student voice, with a particular focus on their lessons. It is important to us to hear what students feel about how lessons function on a daily basis.

Just a reminder that as we enter the summer, hoodies are not allowed, and if a student wishes to wear another layer other than their coat, they can wear a black jumper under their blazer.

Punctuality continues to be a major focus for us this week, and I would like to emphasize again the
importance of students being in school on time. Students need to be on the playground by 8:45, but it is
advisable for them to be there by 8:40 to avoid receiving a late sanction, as the gates close promptly at 8:45.

Once again, please be mindful of the significance of being in school and not taking time off. Taking a day off means losing 5 hours of face-to-face teacher time, which is incredibly difficult to recover.

Finally, just a reminder for our students to take care when crossing the roads near the school. Please make sure it is safe to do so and always use the crossings where appropriate.

Mr. Harrison

Vice Principal
