Message from the Principal

21 June 2024

Dear Families

We have finally come to the end of the examination season and I must start by congratulating all of our year 11 and 13 students for their hard work and efforts during this time. It has been heartwarming to see how the students have supported each other so much during this time. On Thursday we held our year 11 leavers assembly and it was lovely to see so many students there and so many wanting to take the opportunity to thank their teachers for the support they have received over their years in school.

We look forward to seeing many year 11s back with us next year in our 6th form. On Monday we are holding our year 11 into 6th form masterclasses and would encourage as many year 11 students as possible to attend.

After this week there are four weeks left of term before we break up for the summer holidays. However, this last four weeks is a very busy time of year and there are some key dates including in this newsletter. We have a MAC wide INSET day on 4th July and our sports days/review days are on 11th and 12th July. More details about this will be sent out shortly.

We will also be sending out more information about the start to the next academic year in the coming weeks including details around the start to the year. In brief there are two INSET days on the 2nd and 3rd of September with year 7, 11 and 12 students returning on Wednesday 4th September and all students returning on Thursday 5th September.

This week, a number of students attended a very important refugee week event at Millenium Point highlighting the plight of refugees. We also had a number of students attend a residential retreat at Soli House in Alton and thank you to Mrs Atkinson and Mr Sorroll for taking our students.

I will leave you with this prayer for refugees

Almighty and merciful God, whose Son became a refugee and had no place to call his own; look with mercy on those who today are fleeing from danger, homeless and hungry. Bless those who work to bring them relief; inspire generosity and compassion in all our hearts; and guide the nations of the world towards that day when all will rejoice in your Kingdom of justice and of peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Best Wishes
